grasshopper

aaararaghghh, my unemployment summer is being ruined by building work and loud garden neighbours. ok, so maybe it was only one day and it did not really ruin the day too much and, well, ok my summer is not ruined at all. there was still some pretty annoying noise going on outside though and also pollution so it is no wonder that a passing grasshopper sought sanctuary indoors with me.

i was just lounging around reading a book about maverick physicist dick feynman (it is not as boring as you just imagined and anyway summer is a good time for increasing brain power) when i saw something green wandering around on the window ledge. it was grasshopper looking for a quiet place with maybe chocolate and miscellaneous pot plants. i had the plants covered (see entry #35) but no chocolate so it is fortunate that it still posed for a photo:

anyway, even though it could not talk to me, i could sense that grasshopper was also annoyed by the builders who are working on the other side of the road. it is strange how everyone wants to pave over their gardens and things - it just means fewer butterflies and bees and other garden friends and you would have to be a real asshole to want that. i figured that as the human it was up to me to formulate the plan of action.

ok, so when making a plan i think it is only really a good idea to get revenge on builders at ground level. if you surprise one when he is on the roof or halfway up a ladder it could lead to falling and then either lawsuits or, more likely, a crowbar to the stomach or plane to the knee-cap. either way it is probably trouble so it is best to get them low down and then watch from a safe distance.

i thought that the grasshopper was probably better than me at communicating with other animals so i told him the plan and threw him back out the window to get backup. i have a feeling that [lunch break] + [squirrels] + [hard hat] = [less noise for a bit]. it is physics in action.
