blackout

ok, so late last night i was in bed reading a book as a part of my exciting life when the lamp went out. i thought that maybe the bulb had blown but when i saw that my alarm clock was also not working too well i knew that it was a blackout. i do not live in a war-zone or anything so it is not a usual occurence and i did not expect it to last long.

when i looked out of the window i could see that all the other houses in my block had no electricity either. with no electrons there are no lights and that means there is not much to do at night (apart from maybe trip over things and etc.). the power did not come back so i went to sleep.

anyway, about three hours later i woke up when a bright flash of light came through the window (i do not keep the curtains drawn because i like to see the sky when i wake up). i thought that maybe i was living in a war-zone now so i hid under the bed to escape any atomic bomb fallout. ok, that did not really happen - i just wrote it because that is what would have happened in a cheap imported sitcom or a poorly written weblog entry. in reality, i knew immediately that the light was coming from my idiot neighbour's house. i do not think it is too difficult to realise that if the electricity goes out then you still have to turn off the light switch before you go to bed.

anyway, it was just a relief that the blackout only lasted for three hours and so the fridge and icebox did not defrost. it is a bad situation when you have to eat all the crappy food in your fridge so that it does not go to waste - a bad situation that can lead to stomach problems and cheese sweat.
