desk theories

ok, so yesterday i was outside and it was sort of warm. when i got about half a mile from my house it started to rain really hard and there was nowhere to shelter or anything but because it was warm i still felt pretty good. walking in the rain and still being happy is almost what it must be like to live in the real world without electricity or factories or cars or anything. i mean living on the earth instead of in the world. it is an experiment to try out one day.

anyway, enough pseudo-philosophy crap. i have a desk that i acquired from, ahem, somewhere and it is just lying in pieces around my house. i am trying to get rid of it but that is easier said than done. i tried to offload it on a furniture shop near where i live but they did not have room for it so they put a picture in the shop window but they are obviously not going to sell it.

i have been trying to think of other things i could do with it. i thought it would be sort of funny to advertise a yard sale in the free local paper and then when people come they would find that the only thing for sale is one desk. then they would all have to gather round just to look at the desk they do not even want otherwise they will be embarrassed because they wasted the journey. it is maybe not such a great idea though - they might get mad and decide to take stuff from my house as compensation and then give me fifty pence for the tv or something (it is probably not worth that much anyway so it would not be too bad). even though i have recyclebot inside he is such a little robot that i do not think he could fight off too many humans.

ok, so i thought that it was a much better idea to set the desk free in the woods that are just around the corner from where i live. i cannot think of anything nicer than seeing a desk roaming free in it's natural environment - it is made from chipboard but it is still just about made of wood. i also thought it would look kind of mysterious if everybody woke up to find a desk assembled among the trees. with the right propaganda it could become the holy desk of the woods. also, squirrels could live in the drawers and there are a few shelves for the foxes to put their stuff on.

i do not want to just dump it because there is nothing wrong with it and recyclebot would get mad if did not try to do something with it. i will probably just take it to a charity shop or something and then they can get rid of it or let homeless people use the drawers as umbrellas or something. then everyone will be happy.

paul.

p.s. thank you to everyone who has written to say that they sort of like the stuff i make. i will probably not respond personally to notes but if you send an email you will usually get a reply of awesome thanks.
