unlucky thirteen?

i seriously think that i have become addicted to lying around the house and listening to music. it is getting very hard to do anything else apart from going out to get new music to listen to. i cannot even claim that it is research because i cannot really play any instruments and have never written any songs or anything like that. when i left university after messing up my degree i promised myself that i would learn to play the guitar and form a band so i should probably get a move on and do it. however, i think my work ethic problem will probably get in the way again. the plan will probably go the same way as my plan to become a world class snowboarder - i have still never seen a mountain!

anyway, at the moment i am listening to stuff by the black keys and the shins and elliott smith and, of course, the beatles. i think that this is probably a good healthy mix of music even though there is not a synth to be found among them. ok, that is enough about music - it is a quick way to alienate readers who just want to see what some idiot english guy has been doing recently. either that or you clicked on a cryptic diaryland banner with an oscilloscope pattern on it (it is derived from some music by the white stripes i have on my hard-drive if you are interested). so let's get on with the news.

ok, the mouse infestation seems to be over. i have not caught any mice for five days now. it is a local temporal record for my place. so far i do not think that i have caught any diseases from them. i had checked on the internet to find out about house mice and it said that they run around dribbling their urine behind them and spreading nasty diseases with comedy names. i realised that it is pretty ironic that since i have been writing entries for a page called pauls-lab i have had a mouse problem. do not worry though, i am not the sort of scientist who does animal experiments (apart from going to the zoo and trying to make good things happen). i am a trained, but non-practicing, physicist and hate killing things - even dirty, diseased house mice.

i have now accepted that the mice were never ghosts but the ghost cat is definitely still around. if you have not read entry number two then you can go and do that next but the mysterious scratches are still appearing. however, it is a small price to pay for genuine ghost evidence. if only i can learn to communicate with the ghost cat (it is probably some sort of egyptian cat spirit) then there is potential for super hero actions and an awesome crime fighting duo. anyway, unless something dramatic happens this should be the end of mouse news.

next update: saturday
