being digital

ok, so a couple of days ago i nearly had an internet disaster. i was sitting around drawing pictures on my old palmtop computer as usual and it suddenly turned itself off. when i plugged it back into the mains i could see that the battery numbers had dropped from 85% to 0%. 0% is usually a bad number to have of anything apart from maybe number of body parts with diseases or number of houses on fire.

anyway, without my palmtop i cannot draw any new pictures and without new pictures i cannot put things on the internet. ok, it is not really a disaster for the internet because my pictures are not too great but i am the only active palmtop internet artist around right now (type palmtop pictures into google if you do not believe me) because pocketpig is out of action so it would not be good. however, i think it is sort of working properly now which is good news because i only really draw pictures on my palmtop these days and if i cannot draw pictures i will probably go insane (or go and do something else).

so if, theoretically, my palmtop had been broken i would not have been able to fix it. it is the sort of thing that can only be fixed in a laboratory which no longer exists. this would mean that i would have to go out and get a new one and since you cannot buy psion palmtops any more i would have to go to an electronics shop and mess about in there. i really do not like going into those sort of places where the staff come and bug you and try to sell you things and tell you all about whatever you are playing with when all you want to do is add websites to the bookmarks on the demonstration computers. can you imagine how annoying it would be to have to ask the nerds in there which palmtop is the best for drawing stupid pictures of bees with surfboards or whatever? it is a situation that could end in crippling body punches and lifetime bans.

anyway, since rechargeable batteries are always a problem (unless you have lions) i am going to let you in on a secret. when your rechargeable batteries do not charge properly any more you should put them in a plastic bag and then shove them in a freezer for a few hours. the cold will make them like shiny and new and you will have tiny bundles of electron joy all over again.

paul.
